New Plan for Universal Orlando Resort Hotel on Old Wet n Wild Property

Universal Orlando has updated their Wet n Wild development plan with the City of Orlando to include new details and concept renderings of the proposed hotels. The Orlando Business Journal and Orlando Sentinel published the updates.

Universal says the resorts "will be branded/themed to complement existing on-site Universal hotels, and will feature resort-style landscaping, resort amenities including retail and food and beverage outlets, resort-style pools and other resort features in keeping with the brands for each respective property." 1,200 rooms will sit on the former Wet n Wild plot with an additional 2,800 rooms sitting on the former water parks' parking lot.

The theme of the 1,200 room resort appears to be surf or boardwalk themed while the 2,800 room resort's theme is more ambiguous.

Universal Files Plans for New 600 Room Hotel (Update 3)

From GrowthSpotter and OU poster GAcoaster, Universal Orlando has filed plans with the City of Orlando to add 600 new rooms south of Sapphire Falls and adjacent to Adventure Way. We previously speculated this could be an expansion to Sapphire Falls, but it is quickly shaping up to be a new hotel. For comparison the Hard Rock Hotel has 650 rooms, Portofino Bay 750 rooms, both Royal Pacific and Sapphire have 1000 rooms, and 1800 rooms at Cabana Bay. The new Cabana Bay towers will each house an additional 200 rooms when they open in 2017.

Comparatively, the Four Points by Sheraton in Orlando is a similar design and has 300 rooms.

Our friend Richard Bilboa at Orlando Business Journal reports the new hotel, Project 927,  could be called "Aventura Hotel" based on an October 2015 trademark filing. Below is an image provided by Richard and City of Orlando Documents relating to pedestrian walkways, shows the location and possible shape/direction of the hotel.

Based on the name of the hotel it is suspected it'll have a Spanish/Mediterranean theme. Due to the small plot size it's also likely the hotel will be a city style high rise hotel over a parking garage instead of a sprawling resort.

UOR Permit Update 5/29/12 (Updated 5/31)

Universal City Development recently filed 2 building permits of interest with the City of Orlando.  Both permits call for new foundations, but additional details are scarce.

The first permit is for "Project 7448" and calls for "Foundation layout and details for primary structural system."  This could be anything, but perhaps its our first sign the rumored 4th Universal on-site hotel?  Most recently, the site designated for the 4th hotel has been used as a place to crush Amity debris.  However, some have spotted other work possibly being done on the site.

The second permit is for "Project 7542 Universal Studios" and calls for "foundation layout and details for primary structural system including below grade concrete pits, through wall penetration details and waterproofing details."  As this permit includes Universal Studios in the name of the project, one would assume it has something to do with USF.  But what could it be?  In the past, anything regarding WWoHP Phase 2 has been filed under "Project 722", most recently, the new London Waterfront carried that moniker.

UPDATE:
5/30/12: Permit was updated by Plumbing.  Addition of gas lines approved.
5/31/12: Permit was updated by Site Engineering.  Talks about existing permit for "demo/mass grading" which we are guessing refers to the permits filed last December for Project 722 aka Jaws/Amity.  This suggests that this permit is indeed for the expansion of the Wizarding World of Harry Potter at USF.
